Chat
Summary for 23 June, 2000
The
chat session began with Diana explaining what was behind the appearance of an
efreet in the party compound. She told everybody that the woman with the efreet
was a High Priestess of Isis from the far south, and that she (Diana) had been
called into a special branch of the Church if Isis called the Starweavers. She outlined a few of the responsibilities
her new title would bring her.
She
then introduced the party to her new familiar, some kind of an earth
elemental. Nobody was sure what it was,
although Thengal thought it was like a small sandling. The creature could take any mineral form it
wished, appearing sometimes as an emerald bracelet, other times as a sand-like
snake. Castinar tried to speak to it in
the language of earth elementals. The
creature reacted, but didn’t understand.
The
party spent a little time discussing what to do with the hide from the behir
that Kat had collected. Thengal told
them he could make several suits of beautiful scale-mail armor, although it
would take a good deal of time.
After
all the preparations were finished the party returned to the Underdark via one
of Diana’s Portal spells. They walked
back to the shadow dragon cave. There
Ari spoke with the pink fog, which was pleased to see her. She discovered that a “thin dwarf” had
passed through the fog. Meanwhile
Thengal tried out his Cloak of the Manta Ray in the pool, while Sane used the
ioun stone and Matar used his Helm of Underwater Action.
The
party then traveled back up to the main tunnels and headed towards the
gnomes. They met with Carmeneren,
telling her of their adventures. The
gnomes were suitably impressed.
However, there is some tension when Carmeneren doesn’t agree not to go
down into that area. She tells the party
she will do whatever she and the elders feel is in the best interest of the
clan. The party also learns a little
more about the “diregund” on the map, discovering that diregund is the
svirfneblin name for derro
dwarves.
The
party leaves the gnomes, deciding not to stay for a dinner in their honor.
They
then travel back down the main tunnel into the Underdark. They scare a tribe of goblins (probably
refugees) out of the Temple of Slime area.
A
day later they find the location marked “wormholes” on the gnome map. The tunnel (floor, ceiling, and walls) is
filled with holes ranging from three to almost ten feet in diameter. What’s worse, there are frequent if minor
earthquakes, which the party believes indicates that something is moving around
through the tunnels.
OOC:
in the chat session the party deployed Sane, Cast and Co. out to try and lure
the worms in. We’ll backtrack just a
bit, to just before that group leaves the party. So you are at the edge of the wormhole area and everybody is
together, discussing what they should do.
Remember
we won’t be chatting for the next two weeks.
I’ve got a wedding this Friday and we’ll be camping the Friday after
that. So please pick this up in e-mail
and let me know when you come up with a plan and are ready to try it out.
