The
events:
Very
Fast:
Matar
realizes he’s rolling some seriously difficult dice here. Not only does he need to take Thump out with
his first strike, he then has to be lucky enough to avoid Groznyj’s attacks. But his body has other ideas. As he turns to swing his knees buckle and he
falls to the ground.
Thump
blinks, wondering why the human with the sharp blade just fell. He shrugs and starts looking around. “Fara!
What now!” he yells out.
Farayenal
is rather surprised to find that she can hear again. She takes quick stock of the situation. Yes, the battle could turn out in favor of her people, but it
could just as easily go the other way.
Better to retreat and fight another day. Using her spell she sends to everybody “Retreat! Head north! Crys and Prentyss, cover us!”
Fast:
Katrina
knows what she wants to happens next.
She pulls out one of her most powerful arrows and lets it fly at
Farayenal. The missile flies true and
Fara is hit again.
Sane
has ideas of his own. Seeing Prentyss
and Farayenal so close together he uses his Wand of Fire again, aiming the
fireball between the two. As the
fireball blooms Prentyss hits the deck while Farayenal attempts to fly up and
away. They both manage to avoid the
full force of the blast, but that isn’t enough to save Farayenal. She screams in pain as the flames scorch
her. She tries to remain conscious long
enough to land, but the waves of agony are too much. With another scream she passes out and plummets to the
ground. Prentyss clearly hears the
sound of bones shattering when Farayenal hits the rocky floor of the
tunnel.
Sane’s
eyes crinkle. That went better than he
had planned. Still, more of his team is
down than the others. Well, desperate
times call for desperate measures. He
calls out to Nikki, encouraging her to call out to Corelleon with him. Opening his mind, he sends <Great
Corelleon, you do not know me, nor count me among your people. But
Priestess Ariessus, a worthy follower of yours, is taken. Only the Truth
Seekers can save her. If we fall, she is lost.> [OOC: you’ll have to finish this next round]
Amber
moans in pain when her blackened skin cracks when she turns to find her
potions. She pulls out two, one for
herself and one for Dac. She hands the
handsome half-elf one as she begins to work on the cork stopper of the other.
K’harn
sees Matar go down. She growls in
frustration but continues her attacks on Groznyj. This time, however, she is unable to get through his armor.
Prentyss
watches in horror as Farayenal falls to the ground beside her. “Fara?” she says softly. Her only answer comes from Fara’s unseeing
eyes and the bones poking through her skin.
“I’m outta here!” the thief says, concentrating briefing and turning
invisible.
Thump
is stunned as well. Fara was the only
one who was nice to him. “Thump save
Fara!” he yells.
“NO!”
Haragswarld shouts, “She is dead! We
must follow her last order and retreat!
Grab the golem and follow me!”
The cleric then leads his skeletons towards Diana.
Thump
looks back and forth between Fara and the golem. “Set-man not nice to Thump.
Fara nice! Thump save Fara!” he
yells again and runs forward to Fara’s body.
Grozynj
doesn’t need to be told twice. Keeping
a wary eye on Thengal he backs away from K’harn, then turns and moves north,
away from the battle.
Umlith
groans and sits up. He looks around and
sees the party he has been traveling with in disarray, and worse, no sign of
Venom. “The priestess” he says, rising
slowly to his feet.
Crystenna
considers what she should do. She could
still use her Wand against the kenku’s, as she was intending to do. Or she could get away from this place. Ah, that sounds like a better idea. She turns around and begins running north. (OOC: by the end of the round she is about
14 squares off the map.)
Average:
Katrina
curses as the thief below her goes invisible.
She looks around for another target.
Ah, how sweet, the halfling is tending to the badly burned half-elf. Realizing she has to hit the half-elf before
he drinks his potion Kat doesn’t take time to zero in her shot. She pulls back and lets loose, hoping that
Amber doesn’t get in the way. The arrow
catches Dac dead in the chest. He
coughs in surprise once and looks down.
“NO!” Amber cries out. Dac tries
to say something to her, but only blood comes out. He stiffens once and then relaxes.
“No,
no no!” Amber says, putting her own potion aside and taking Dac’s from his
hand. She carefully pours a little of
the liquid around the arrow, then carefully pours the rest down his
throat. Dac moans, but doesn’t awaken.
Thengal
is in need of a little healing himself.
He digs back into his bag and pulls out the potion with the triple Xs on
it. Unscrewing the lid he tosses the
potion back, feeling the cold, clean magic of the potion wash away his aches
and pains.
Prentyss
moves north, angling towards the wall.
She watches in amazement as Thump comes running towards her. She considers warning him off, but the
archer up on the wall above her makes her decide it’s time to take care of her
own skin first.
Haragswarld
gets his skeletons over next to Diana.
He instructs them to pick her up, watching both K’harn and Thengal as
they do so, holding his staff in front of him, the head of the staff hissing.
Slow:
Satisfied
that the half-elf is out, Katrina looks around for another target. Lo and behold, here comes the trollkin
running towards her! As he stops and
bends over to look at Farayenal Katrina pulls back and shoots at him. It’s a perfect shot. [OOC: 20, but Thump makes ST to avoid
critical damage] “Ow” the trollkin
mutters as he falls face-forward over Farayenal’s body. He lays there, although he is still moving
slightly, as if trying to get back up.
Thengal
tosses his empty potion container to the ground. Seeing Finslayer laying next to Castinar the dwarf decides that
maybe the sword can do something for Castinar.
His hand goes around Finslayer’s hilt, his intent to place the sword in
Castinar’s hand. But as soon as he
touches it he hears a voice in his head.
<Don’t leave me with him!
He’s out of the fight! Take me
and let’s go take that drow out!! Look,
he’s getting back up! I’ll guide your
strokes. Come ON!> [OOC: Thengal, let me know what you do
before we start chatting this evening.]
End
of Round
So,
the general situation:
Most
of the Truth Seekers are down, although enough remain up and dangerous that the
Others have decided to pull back. Sane,
Kat, and Thengal are all unthreatened and able to act freely. K’harn and Hunter are still active as
well. Amber is badly injured, but still
overly concerned with Dac.
As
for the Others Fara is dead. Dac and
Thump are both unconscious, although Thump won’t be for long. Quad has disappeared. Crystenna has disappeared into the
darkness. Prentyss and Groznyj are both
pulling back. Only Haragswarld seems
unwilling to leave without some kind of prize.
His six skeletons are now carrying Diana. Umlith is looking around, still a little confused by the sudden
turn in events.
We’ll
pick up here at the start of the chat session tonight. Hope to see you all there.
