Chat Summary for 1 June, 2001

First, a recap of what has been happening in e-mail over the past month.

The party has made contact with the rebel derro.  They managed to convinced the derro to talk.  The party offered to wipe out the servant derro (those associated with the City of the Glass Pool) in exchange for information about the City of the Glass Pool.  The rebel derro were only concerned about wiping out the servant derro.  After some discussion, they gave the party both a map of the general area, and also a detailed map of the servant derro lair, along with information about the servant derro strength and defenses.  All of that took place over the past month in e-mails as the DM was away from home.

Last night the party asked a few more questions about the derro lair, most of which were answered.  Questions about the City of the Glass Pool were brushed aside by the rebel derro.

Armed with their maps and the rebel derros’ knowledge, the party journeyed up to the servant derro lair.  Invisibility spells were cast on Katrina and Castinar, then those two went forward to scout out the lair.

They didn’t find the murder holes in the ceiling, as the map showed, but when Katrina went up to the room above where the murder holes were supposed to be she did find three derro there.  The room was filled with large rocks and balls of fiber.  There were planks across the floor in the middle of the room.  Katrina also noticed a small bell with a cord that ran back into the wall.

Meanwhile Castinar went forward and investigate the crossbow trap.  It was mounted in a large wooden barricade covering most of the passage way.  Castinar felt it wasn’t derro construction, and observed that up to ten bolts could be fired at once, then automatically reloaded.  The barricade was manned by four derro.

The pair then penetrated further into the lair.  Kat went to the right and scouted around inside a large room that appeared to be a barracks of some sort.  There were about a dozen derro in here, including a savant.  There were also several smaller tunnels leading from this room, although they were so small even a derro would have to get down on hands and knees to crawl through them.

Meanwhile Castinar went to the left and scouted out the area with the slaves.  He found another dozen or so derro here watching over about that same number of slaves.  All of the slaves were female.  Most were human, although there were at least two elves and a dwarf.  One of the elves was being raped by a derro lieutenant.  Castinar managed to restrain himself, knowing an attack was suicidal.  But he did memorize the features of all of the derro involved.  The back half of this room was filled with water.  Some of the slaves appeared to be fishing, while others tended to a fungus farm.

Katrina next went to the lair of the savants.  She saw at least half a dozen savants there.  investigating further, she found what appeared to be the leader of the savants speaking with an illithid wearing a strange brooch.  When Katrina tried to get closer the illithid heard her.  The derro leader dismissed the sound as one of the spiders which lived on the cavern walls, but the illithid remained alert, preventing any further scouting in that area.  After a closer look at the other savants, Katrina went up on the cavern wall and discovered several 10’ wide spiders. She only saw two spiders, although there were over a dozen nests.

Finally Katrina scouted out a smaller room which sloped sharply from left to right.  A rather large stream cascaded down the floor of the cavern.  Two derro were watching a pair of slaves get water from the stream.

The two scouts returned to the party and the Seekers began making plans for their assault.  That’s where we left off.

Remember we won’t be chatting next week, so we’ve got two weeks of e-mail to finalize the plan, cast all your preparatory spells, then head in.

So, what’s the plan?
