Amber was a dog. No really, she was polymorphed into a dog for a while. Diana figure out that the dog was actually a polymorphed halfling and returned Amber to her normal form. In gratitude for being saved (she was losing her sense of identity) Amber asked to accompany Diana on her adventures, becoming Diana's henchman. When the henchmen idea was overturned by the party Amber became a full-fledged member.
Since that time the other henchmen that joined the party have left for one reason or another. Amber remains, having now risen to 5th level. In the past she has played the role of "combat medic", but now that she has access to 3rd level spells she is anxious to begin contributing offensively to the Truth Seeker's efforts.
