A letter from Amber's Mother (in response to the first letter)

Dearest Amber,

It is good to hear from you. Last we heard you were heading up to this Jurgenville with some kind of message or something, but that you had disappeared. At last we can lay our fears to rest. We knew you would show up sooner or later… you always do!

Are these Truth Seekers you speak of the same group that the bards are singing about; the group with the drow woman who fell in love with a paladin? Father says I am a fool for asking - after all, how many groups could there be in Jurgenville named the Truth Seekers with a member named Diana. Still, it is almost too much to believe that my little Amber has fallen in with such a famous band of adventurers.

I'm not sure I would want to hear your tales of adventuring under that mountain. There's a reason why most halflings don't burrow deeper than they can dig with their hands. Dangerous things live down there; dark things better left alone! You watch yourself. Or, better yet, may your lady watch over you.

From your letter I take it you plan on staying with these Truth Seekers for a while, rather than coming back home? I hear it is beautiful up in the mountains. Perhaps I can talk your father into coming to visit you next summer.

Thank you for the "token". Your father used to money to take all of us to the Roaring Mouse for dinner. We raised a glass to you. Even the kids were talking about you and how famous you were going to be. They can hardly wait for the next set of ballads to come out of Jurgenville.

Things haven't changed much here. The business is going well, perhaps even a little better than normal. We've turned enough of a profit this year that father is talking about finally adding on that new room he has been talking about for the past three years. I don't think we need the space now that our kids are growing up.

Well, be sure to write whenever you get a chance. And, although I don't want to hear them, the little ones are anxious to hear about all the monsters you have defeated and how terrible the battles were. You know how kids are.

May Tymora keep and protect you. She surely knows you need the help!!!

Love,

Mother
